Concerts in early 2019
After two concerts in Seoul with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and violinist Christian Tetzlaff (Jan 5 and 6, 2019), Markus Stenz will lead quite a few concerts in the USA. He starts in Pittsburgh with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and pianist Bezzod Aduraimov (Jan 11-13), continues in North Bethesda (Jan 19) and Baltimore (Jan 20) with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and violinist Baiba Skride and conducts three concerts in Portland with violininst Viviane Hagner and the Oregon Symphony (Jan 26-28). Before he returns to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for three more concerts (Feb 8-10), he will stop over in Nashville for two concerts with the Nashville Symphony and pianist Juho Pohjonen (Feb 1-2).
After this extended tour through the United States, he comes back to “his” orchestra, the Netherlands Radio Filharmonisch Orkest for a couple of symphonic concerts (March 1 and 3) and of course the Dutch premiere of the celebrated opera “Fin de Partie” by Kurtág (March 6). Markus Stenz also conducted the world premiere of this opera at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in November 2018.
